19.08.2025 Foreign Minister Dr Johann Wadephul visits the German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
Dr Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, today visited the German Pavilion “Wa! Germany” at Expo 2025 Osaka as part of his trip to Japan. Accompanied by a delegation of representatives from politics, business and the media, he learned more about Germany’s contribution to the World Expo. The German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is being organised on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
During his tour, Foreign Minister Wadephul gained insights into the architecture and exhibition of the German Pavilion. Pavilion Director Christopher Hecker guided the delegation through the immersive exhibition, which follows the leitmotif “Mutually shaping a circular world.”
“‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’ is the theme of this year’s Expo in Osaka. The German Pavilion […] has also embraced this idea. I think it is an outstanding contribution, one that I am truly delighted about, as everything here is centred around the circular economy. The round buildings have been realized entirely according to circular design. This means that all materials used are recyclable and reusable. The mindful use of resources is central.”
Germany’s participation under the name “Wa! Germany” presents innovations from Germany – ranging from circular construction, closed material and energy cycles to digital future technologies – and shows how a sustainable, emission-free society can become reality.
